Symptoms

Connections to database, via Juniper firewall, using the shared server connection model hanging, waiting on event "virtual circuit status". 10046 of hung session confirms following
Received ORADEBUG command 'event 10046 trace name context forever, level 12' from process Unix process pid: 15410, image:

WAIT #4: nam='virtual circuit status' ela= 48691363 circuit#=65 status=2 p3=0 obj#=-1 tim=69157325240

Received ORADEBUG command 'unlimit' from process Unix process pid: 15410, image:
Received ORADEBUG command 'dump errorstack 3' from process Unix process pid: 15410, image:
v$session information shows the process is active
Other symptons might include application log for the connections showing the errors
ORA-1041 "internal error. hostdef extension doesn't exist"
ORA-3113 "end-of-file on communication channel"
ORA-3114 "not connected to ORACLE"
