Slow Connections to Database from 9.2 / 10.1 Clients (Doc ID 1069772.1)

Symptoms

Remote connections to database are slow. Oracle Net level 16 client trace of a slow connection, shows the time is lost after the connection handshake has been completed, and the last packet sent to the server, show the following sql statement "Select null from dual for update nowait" is run.

o Client is sending this packet, inside the SQL can been seen

o Delay is then seen, this is the client idle, waiting for answer from server.
