"Create Dynamic Asychronous Writethrough Cache" fails with ORA-00955 (Doc ID 1076451.1)

Last updated on JUNE 05, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle TimesTen In-Memory Database - Version 11.2.1.4.0 to 11.2.1.5.0 [Release 11.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

When a cache group is created, the option exists to create the Oracle objects automatically (i.e. TimesTen takes care of this) or manually (i.e. the user takes care of this). These Oracle objects are used internally by TimesTen to track the configuration, status & progress of cache objects.

If a "manual" install is decided upon and a dynamic AWT cache group is created, this can fail with ORA-00955 as a result of <bug:9488548>

5221: Oracle syntax error in OCIStmtExecute(): ORA-00955: name is already used by an existing object rc = -1
The command failed.
