Streams DML Handler Procedure Failing With ORA-04068, ORA-04065 and ORA-06508 When Using 'Public.Anydata' Synonym (Doc ID 1088105.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 27, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version to [Release 10.2 to 11.1]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

You have Streams setup in place and you are using a DML Handler Procedure at Apply site (DBMS_APPLY_ADM.SET_DML_HANDLER).

Sometimes you see Apply process going into aborted state due the DML Handler procedure getting invalidated. When reviewing the reason apply aborted via dba_apply.error_message column or checking procedure errors at dba_errors view you see an error stack similar to this:

ORA-04068: existing state of packages has been discarded
ORA-04065: not executed, altered or dropped stored procedure "public.anydata"
ORA-06508: pl/sql: could not find program unit being called: "public.anydata"
ORA-06512: at "strmamdin.my_apply_dml_handler_proc", line 375
ORA-06512: at line 1

Upgraded your 9i or 10g database to or 11g.
