Changing the port of a Fail Safe listener (Doc ID 1101206.1)

Last updated on SEPTEMBER 09, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Fail Safe - Version 3.0 to 4.1
Generic Windows

How do you change listener port number in Oracle Fail Safe environment?
There is an additional step with Fail Safe while altering the listener port. Database should be taken out of Fail Safe group for this maintenance operation.
After changing listener.ora file and tnsnames.ora file, local_listener value in init.ora file restart database and listener you still see port 1521 in Oracle Fail Safe manager.
From a database connection perspective the listener and database can accept new connections using the new port number.  However when running verify group, Oracle Fail Safe reports incorrect values in listener and tnsnames.ora file suggesting it needs to be corrected.
