Solaris: root.Sh Fails to Start Nodeapps When Doing Silent 11gR2 Grid Infrastructure Install With IPMP (Doc ID 1104748.1)

Last updated on JANUARY 27, 2020

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.2.0.1 and later
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)
IPMP is used for public net.

Symptoms

After silent installation of Grid Infrastructure root.sh fails on first node when starting nodeapps.

The rootcrs_nodename.log ends with:

2010-04-16 10:18:26: output for start nodeapps is PRCR-1079 : Failed to start resource ora.<NODENAME>5.vip Start action for VIP aborted CRS-2674: Start of 'ora.<NODENAME>5.vip' on '<NODENAME>5' failed CRS-2632: There are no more servers to try to place resource 'ora.<NODENAME>5.vip' on that would satisfy its placement policy
2010-04-16 10:18:26: output of startnodeapp after removing already started mesgs is PRCR-1079 : Failed to start resource ora.<NODENAME>5.vip Start action for VIP aborted CRS-2674: Start of 'ora.<NODENAME>5.vip' on '<NODENAME>5' failed CRS-2632: There are no more servers to try to place resource 'ora.<NODENAME>5.vip' on that would satisfy its placement policy
2010-04-16 10:18:26: /u01/app/11.2.0/grid/bin/srvctl start nodeapps -n <NODENAME>5 ... failed

The orarootagent_root.log showed it was adding the VIP (192.168.xxx.7) to interface:  e1000g1.

Changes

IPMP is configured for the public network.

In this case, interfaces e1000g0 and e1000g1 are in the same group ora_grp1 and e1000g0 is the active interface with e1000g1 acting in the standby role:
