Symptoms
During the investigation of the ALERT.LOG due to some problem you notice error messages in the ALERT.LOG regarding: ORA-00314 ; ORA-00312
Errors in file /XX/opt/oracle/admin/aaaa/bdump/aaaa_arc2_9000.trc:
ORA-00314: log 4 of thread 1, expected sequence# 35836 doesn't match 35832
ORA-00312: online log 4 thread 1: '/XX/oradata/aaaa/redolog4b.ora'
Not knowing if this was the source of the problem they contacted OSS
On further investigation it was found that this problem had been ongoing for several days and did not impact the integrity of the database
Further research show that the database opened cleanly after a normal shutdown immediate and startup
You may find that these error messages are not related to the problem you were investigating.
