Symptoms
Running original export utility on OpenVMS using 10.2 exp client connected to a 11.1 remote database.
Export would sometimes fail without any meaningful errors being indicated on server side or client side.
Exp would show following:
EXP-00056: ORACLE error 3113 encountered
ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
Net traces show following:
[10-MAY-2010 16:45:10:861] nserror: nsres: id=0, op=68, ns=12535, ns2=12560; nt[0]=505, nt[1]=60, nt[2]=0; ora[0]=0, ora[1]=0, ora[2]=0
[10-MAY-2010 16:45:10:896] nioqer: incoming err = 12151
12151 is actually ORA-12151 TNS:received bad packet type from network layer
indicating we have encountered a transmission error
