Beginning in OpenVMS V8.4, HP has added a check within the VMSINSTAL procedure related to secure product signing. This is a new feature for VMSINSTAL. When installing kits, the VMSINSTAL procedure will look to see if the kit is "signed" and will display an *INFORMATIONAL* message if it is not. The user is prompted if they wish to continue or not. Obviously, the intent would indeed be to continue to install.

All existing kits will not have been signed and software from Oracle is similarly not (presently at least) signed. There is no problem or issue. Simply respond YES to the prompt.

Here is an example of the informational message and the prompt that will be seen after upgrading to OpenVMS V8.4 that was not present in prior releases of OpenVMS:


These informational messages will be seen during all Oracle product installations on OpenVMS 8.4 and higher.
