Last updated on DECEMBER 05, 2018

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Standard Edition - Version and later
Oracle Database - Personal Edition - Version and later
Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Trying to register the target database in the RMAN catalog and get these errors:

RMAN-08006: database registered in recovery catalog
RMAN-03023: executing command: full resync
RMAN-08002: starting full resync of recovery catalog
RMAN-03026: error recovery releasing channel resources
RMAN-00569: ================error message stack follows================
RMAN-03008: error while performing automatic resync of recovery catalog
RMAN-07004: unhandled exception during command execution on channel default
RMAN-10032: unhandled exception during execution of job step 1: ORA-06512: at l9
RMAN-20036: invalid record order

You can register another different database so the catalog seems to be correct and if you try to create the catalog again or to register the target database in a different catalog, you always get the errors.

The problem can also occure during a (implicit) resync-operation:

RMAN-03014: implicit resync of recovery catalog failed
RMAN-03006: non-retryable error occurred during execution of command: resync
RMAN-20036: invalid record order
