In previous versions, the workaround was to use the old 8.3 filename format, to get the software installed into a directory that contains spaces in the name. For example, to install into the C:\PROGRAM FILES\ORACLE directory you could have used the path: C:\PROGRA~1\ORACLE (notice the ~ (tilde) character).
Starting with the Oracle 220.127.116.11 OUI (Oracle Universal Installer), the Tilde became an illegal character. And thus the OUI will not allow this directory to be used.
This issue is currently being addressed by Development, and should be fixed in a later release of the OUI.
