Goal

This document will explain how to free up space if a user is attempting to insert an empty DICOM object in order to replace an existing one.

Scenario:

A user supports a hospital where a DICOM object is loaded when the patient is admitted.  If the patient is released, the DICOM object associated with that patient should also be removed.  There is a high turnover, so the space needs to be available once the old records are archived.   The user will replace the patient DICOM with an empty one in order to free up the space, leaving the actual record to be archived off at a later date

It was noticed that after inserting an empty DICOM object, the space used by the previous inserted DICOM object still remained unavailable.
