Purpose
The following article describes how to load binary files, e.g. MS Word documents, into a table and create a Text index on that table.
Scope
This note is intended to be used as a guideline for creating Text indexes whose document format is binary.
Note:
- This was tested against Oracle Text 9.2.0.7, 10.2.0.2 and 11.1.0.6
- It is assumed the reader has set up Oracle Text (Text) and the user CTXSYS has been created
- This testcase was created on a UNIX machine; therefore, all filenames and directory structures are coded using UNIX conventions. However, with the appropriate updates, this procedure will run on MS Windows OS as well.
