Last updated on NOVEMBER 03, 2015

Applies to:

Oracle Security Service - Version: 11.1.0.7 and later   [Release: 11.1 and later ]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

While importing a certificate through the Oracle Wallet Manager(owm) the following error occurs in 11.1.0.7:

Error Message :
User certificate installation failed
Possible Errors;
-- Input was not a valid certificate.
-- No matching certificate was found
-- CA certificate is needed for certificate chain not found please install it first.

The certificate can be imported with the Wallet Manager from a 11.2.0.1 Oracle Home(sometimes it is possible to import it with OWM tools from older Oracle Homes) but it will be impossible to open the wallet afterwards. Both OWM and orapki will complain about the wrong password:
