ORA-600 [ktsxtffs2] / ORA-600 [kghstack_free1] On Database Startup (Doc ID 1212240.1)

Symptoms

When starting the database, the following errors can be  generated in both the alert.log and trace files, by SMON process:

ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ktsxtffs2], [3], [1398030667]


or

ORA-600: internal error code, arguments: [kghstack_free1], [sort - search
in file #s], [], [],



In the "Call Stack Trace" section of the trace file, we can find the following functions:

 

For ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ktsxtffs2]:

  ktsxtffs ktstacload ktstprimess ktmmon ktmSmonMain ksbrdp opirip


or

For ORA-600: internal error code, arguments: [kghstack_free1]:

kghstack_free kghstack_err ksmerr ksepop kgepop kgeasnmierr ktsxtffs ktstacload  ktstprimess 




Note:
One mandatory condition in order to hit this specific bug is to use temporary tablespace group.
This can be confirmed from the following:

SQL> SELECT PROPERTY_NAME, PROPERTY_VALUE FROM DATABASE_PROPERTIES WHERE
PROPERTY_NAME='DEFAULT_TEMP_TABLESPACE';

SQL> select tablespace_name from dba_tablespaces where contents='TEMPORARY';

SQL> select * from DBA_TABLESPACE_GROUPS;
