Apply Process / Database Shows High Waits on Shared Pool Latch (Doc ID 1233113.1)

Symptoms

Apply Process shows Latency.

There is significant latching and CPU usage observed at the apply database by Streams
related processes.

Examination of the Streams Healthcheck indicates that Apply servers exhibit significant latch waits and
CPU. The event which the process(es) is waiting on is: 'latch: shared pool' .

The Apply reader shows significant CPU usage.

An AWR report which also show that 'latch: shared pool' and CPU may be in top 5 wait events
reported on the database.

There may also be a large number of open Streams transactions reported against the
Apply process. This steadily increases.
