Compiling Natively a PL/SQL Objects Fails With PLS-923: libmpfr.so.1: No such file or directory (Doc ID 1235133.1)

Symptoms

Compiling a pl/sql object in native mode using the gcc compiler version 4.4.2 fails with
PLS-00923: native compilation failed: C compilation or linking failed:ld.so.1: cc1: fatal: libmpfr.so.1: open failed: No such file or directory.

Compiling  a simple C code, example the one contained in Note 312564.1, using the compiler outside the database fails with the same error.

This issue has been observed on a Sun Solaris OS but it is possible it is present also in other operating systems.
