Ora-28374 After Migration To 11.2.0.x from earlier releases 10gR2 or 11gR1 (Doc ID 1260584.1)

Last updated on MAY 10, 2024

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.2.0.1 and later
Advanced Networking Option - Version 11.1.0.7.0 to 11.2.0.1 [Release 11.1 to 11.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

After upgrading your database from version 10.2 to 11.1 or 11.2 you may get the following error:

ORA-28374 "typed master key not found in wallet"

The error typically is dumped intermittently. For example when you select from the table in a simple manner like

select * from &encrypted_table;

it works, however when ordering or joining with other tables you get the error.

Changes

You upgraded the database using TDE features from version 10.2 to a higher release. This issue can also happen if you switch the compatible parameter to the current database version after keeping it initially at the previous database release.
