Windows Service Not Starting Automatically At Server reboot (Doc ID 1264404.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 03, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 10.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.3 [Release 10.2 to 11.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

Symptoms

Automatic Oracle restart on Windows is failing on server reboot.

In ORADIM.LOG we can see the reason as:

ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied

On manual restart of the service the Oracle instance is starting successfully, it is only failing on machine/workstation reboot.

The registry entries are correct:

ORA_<SID>_AUTOSTART = "TRUE"
ORA_<SID>_PFILE = "%%ORACLE_HOME%%\Database\init<SID>.ora"
ORA_<SID>_SHUTDOWN = "TRUE"
ORA_<SID>_SHUTDOWNTYPE = "immediate"
ORA_<SID>_SHUTDOWN_TIMEOUT = "90"
