Symptoms
After configuring the Oracle Database Gateway for ODBC 11.2.0.1 on IBM AIX 6.1 any SELECT from Oracle Server 11.2.0.1 to Red Brick fails with a variety of errors, for example -ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:

ERROR:ORA-01858: a non-numeric character was found where a numeric was expected
or
empty rows are returned for the SELECT
