Information in this document applies to any platform.

A single instance has been upgraded from 10g to 11g and then was converted to RAC.

Before the upgrade the dba_registry showed the following entry:

SQL> select substr(comp_id,1,15) comp_id, substr(comp_name,1,30) comp_name, substr(version,1,10) version, status from dba_registry order by modified;
COMP_ID  COMP_NAME                      VERSION    STATUS
-------- ------------------------------ ---------- ----------
RAC      Oracle Real Application Cluste REMOVED

This status can be seen if <Document 312071.1> has been followed to set the status in single instance where RAC is not installed. After the upgrade to 11g and then converting the instance to RAC the entry for the RAC component is still in status REMOVED and also the version is still All other components are shown with new 11g version. Database is running fine. No problem seen.
Now there are concerns if future upgrades will fail for the RAC component if this status is still shown as REMOVED.
The check with:

select value from v$option where parameter='Real Application Clusters';

shows TRUE which is expected for the RAC component.
