Symptoms

The queries on V$XML_AUDIT_TRAIL return no rows in a database that has the following characteristics:

- parameter audit_trail = xml (or xml, extended)
- ORACLE_SID has upper case characters
- some actions are audited and there are xml files generated in the audit_file_dest directory
