Symptoms
The Oracle database and Database Gateway for Teradata (DG4Teradata) are installed on RED Hat Linux.
The gateway version is 11.1.0.7 + 7565834 and Teradata is version12
A select using the gateway gives the following error -
select * from dual@database link received
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:

A gateway debug trace file shows -
LD_LIBRARY_PATH from environment is "/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/tg_1/lib32:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/tg_1/dg4tera/driver/lib32:/usr/lib/:/opt/teradata/tdicu/lib"
Setting LD_LIBRARY_PATH to "/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/tg_1/dg4tera/driver/lib:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/tg_1/lib32:/u01/app/oracle/product/11.1.0/tg_1/dg4tera/driver/lib32:/usr/lib/:/opt/teradata/tdicu/lib"
