Create Standby Controlfile Failing with ORA-15121 (Doc ID 1272988.1)

Symptoms

o Creating a standby controlfile failing with  ORA-15121
o The failure occur if using RMAN or SQLPLUS

RMAN> backup current controlfile for standby;

Starting backup at 10-DEC-10
using target database control file instead of recovery catalog
allocated channel: ORA_DISK_1
channel ORA_DISK_1: SID=134 device type=DISK
channel ORA_DISK_1: starting full datafile backup set
channel ORA_DISK_1: specifying datafile(s) in backup set
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-03009: failure of backup command on ORA_DISK_1 channel at 12/10/2010 14:15:05
ORA-15121: ASM file name '<++AsmDiskGroup>/<db_unique_name>/<path>/<filename>' contains an invalid diskgroup name

or sqlplus

SQL> alter database create standby controlfile as '/<path>/<standby_controlfile>.ctl';
alter database create standby controlfile as '/<path>/<standby_controlfile>.ctl'

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-15121: ASM file name '<++AsmDiskGroup>/<db_unique_name>/<path>/<filename>' contains an invalid diskgroup name


o v$datafile shows correct filename (without the double +)
