Oracle Exadata Database Machine Grid Infrastructure Upgrade to 11.2.0.2 fails with ASM ORA-4031 (Doc ID 1279525.1)

During Grid Infrastructure upgrade 11.2.0.1 to 11.2.0.2, running rootupgrade.sh on the first node may fail. ASM alert log shows:
ORA-04031: unable to allocate 760 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool","unknown object","KKSSP^3","kglss")
The rootupgrade.sh script exits stating that the ASM resource can't be started:
Start of resource "ora.asm" failed
The other nodes are still running 11.2.0.1 components.
The OUI is still waiting for confirmation that rootupgrade.sh has been run on all nodes.
