Symptoms


Streams Apply background process 100th aborted with:

ORA-26650: Capture or apply background process might not be started successfully
OPIRIP: Uncaught error 447. Error stack:
ORA-00447: fatal error in background process


Trying to start the process using:


ERROR at line 1:
ORA-26650: Apply background process <APPLY_NAME_100> might not be started successfully
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_LOGREP_UTIL", line 743
ORA-06512: at "SYS.DBMS_APPLY_ADM", line 28
ORA-06512: at line 1

There are more than 100 apply processes in the database; the number of possible apply processes was increased in 10.2x from 99 to 999. 

Changes

We have more than one hundred apply processes in this database, all the other work correctly but unable to start apply process 100.
