Last updated on APRIL 14, 2022

Applies to:

Oracle Rdb Server on OpenVMS - Version 7.0 and later
HP OpenVMS Alpha
HP OpenVMS VAX
HP OpenVMS Itanium

Goal

Is it possible to locate a special character such as a CR (carriage return) in a string and, if necessary, replace it, either temporarily or permanently?

Such special characters can cause problems in RMU/UNLOAD to an ASCII file and then displaying, or simply displaying them in interactive SQL.
