How To Use DbProviderFactories (ADO.Net 2.0) with Multiple Oracle Homes

(Doc ID 1288758.1)

Last updated on JUNE 17, 2011

Applies to:

Oracle Data Provider for .NET - Version: and later   [Release: and later ]
Generic Windows

When installing another Oracle Home with ODP.Net the entry in the machine.config file for the DbProviderFactories is changed to the ODP.Net version in the new home. This will cause existing applications that need to run on specific versions run the version of ODP.Net last installed. For other background information on using ODP.Net in a Multiple Oracle Home environment review "Using Windows Client Drivers in Multiple Oracle Client Homes" (<>).
