Solaris: Wrong MTU Size for VIP or HAIP (Doc ID 1290585.1)

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version 11.2.0.1 and later
Oracle Solaris on SPARC (64-bit)
Oracle Solaris on x86-64 (64-bit)

Purpose

11gR2/12c Grid Infrastructure environment, after clusterware starts up, noticed VIP (can be node VIP, SCAN VIP, GNS VIP or user VIP) and / or HAIP is having MTU size that does not match the MTU on physical interface:

qlge8: flags=1001000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4,FIXEDMTU> mtu 9198 index 9
inet 10.0.0.1 netmask ffffff00 broadcast 10.0.1.255
qlge8:1: flags=1000843<UP,BROADCAST,RUNNING,MULTICAST,IPv4> mtu 9216 index 9
inet 169.254.81.29 netmask ..

The MTU size could be 16128 for some type of network adapters.
