Symptoms

Attempting to insert a NULL into an XMLTYPE column using DBMS_XMLSAVE fails with the following error:

ORA-29532: Java call terminated by uncaught Java exception: oracle.xml.sql.OracleXMLSQLException:
'java.sql.SQLException: Invalid column type: sqlType=2007'
 encountered during processing ROW element 0.
All prior XML row changes were rolled back. in the XML document.
