Symptoms

Since upgrading to 11.2.0.2, a user procedure consistently fails and generates the following error in the alert.log and dumps a core file:

ORA-07445: exception encountered: core dump [memcpy()+628] [SIGSEGV] [ADDR:0x0] [PC:0xFFFFFFFF7C1007BC] [Address not mapped to object] []

The PL/SQL Call Stack shows that the user procedure calls the XDB.DBMS_XMLPARSER package.

The call stack is

memcpy <- LpxFSMOverflow <- LpxFSMSax <- LpxFSMParseDocument <- LpxParse
<- LpxStreamParse <- qmxuParseXobDoc_int

Changes

The database was upgraded to 11.2.0.2 where a new and faster XML parser was introduced.
