ASMCA Is Unable To Communicate With The +ASM Instance. (Doc ID 1301256.1)

Symptoms

1) ASMCA is unable to communicate with the +ASM instance and it is reporting the next error:


ASMCA detected an ASM instance with SID “+ASM” that is not running. This instance needs to be running for ASMCA to configure it. Do you want to start the instance now?



2) ASMCA also reported the next error in the asmca_<#######>.log file:


 [main] [ 2011-02-20 17:50:45.157 PST ] [UsmcaLogger.logException:172] There is an error in creating the following process:
$GI_HOME/bin/sqlplus -S -N /NOLOG
The error is:
