Opatch Command Fails with Error:"OPatch Cannot Load Inventory for the Given Oracle Home" (Doc ID 1308866.1)

On : version, Dataserver Installation and Relinking issue

When attempting to run opatch lsinventory,the following error occurs.:


OPatch could not create/open history file for writing : /oracle/app10205/cfgtoollogs/opatch/opatch_history.txt
/oracle/app10205/cfgtoollogs/opatch/opatch_history.txt (Permission denied)
Inventory load failed... OPatch cannot load inventory for the given Oracle Home.

LsInventorySession failed: LsInventory cannot create the log directory /oracle/app10205/cfgtoollogs/opatch/lsinv/lsinventory2011-03-27_15-37-05PM.txt

OPatch failed with error code 73

The issue can be reproduced at will with the following steps:

% opatch lsinventory
