ORA-4031 With Hint /*+ CURSOR_SHARING_EXACT */ - Excessive "KKSSP^NN" Memory

(Doc ID 1312446.1)

Last updated on MAY 31, 2017

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version to [Release 11.2]
Information in this document applies to any platform.

ORA-4031 occurs if many SELECT statements with hint /*+ cursor_sharing_exact */ are running serially and cursor_sharing is set to FORCE on the instance.

If we take out the hint /*+ cursor_sharing_exact */ the error stops.
Also, if we set cursor_sharing to EXACT the error stops.

This occurs for example with a  script, which contains 1,000,000 SELECT statements with the hint.
