Symptoms

 

 

During RMAN restore of RMAN incremental backup to roll forward standby database in case of huge GAP.

RMAN> catalog start with 'u01';

using target database control file instead of recovery catalog
searching for all files that match the pattern u01
no files found to be unknown to the database.

Also,

RMAN> switch database to copy;

RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-00569: =============== ERROR MESSAGE STACK FOLLOWS ===============
RMAN-00571: ===========================================================
RMAN-03002: failure of switch to copy command at 07/18/2011 23:41:05
RMAN-06571: datafile 6 does not have recoverable copy

NOTE : For both case the soft link is an issue.
