How To Verify If A New Candidate ASM Disk Is Cluster Wide Visible ORA-15075 / ORA-15080 (Doc ID 1316936.1)

You are getting the next errors when you are adding a new disk to an existing diskgroup or to create a brand new diskgroup (ASM RAC configuration):

SQL> alter diskgroup DATADG_DQ add disk '/dev/rdsk/c6t60060E80100A9F40053021FC00000017d0s6';
alter diskgroup DATADG_DQ add disk '/dev/rdsk/c6t60060E80100A9F40053021FC00000017d0s6'
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-15032: not all alterations performed
ORA-15075: disk(s) are not visible cluster-wide
ORA-15080: synchronous I/O operation to a disk failed

15075, 00000, "disk(s) are not visible cluster-wide"
// *Cause: An ALTER DISKGROUP ADD DISK command specified a disk that could
// not be discovered by one or more nodes in a RAC cluster
// configuration.
// *Action: Determine which disks are causing the problem from the
// GV$ASM_DISK fixed view. Check operating system permissions
// for the device and the storage sub-system configuration on
// each node in a RAC cluster that cannot identify the disk. 


15080, 00000, "synchronous I/O operation to a disk failed"
// *Cause: A synchronous I/O operation invoked on a disk has failed.
// *Action: Make sure that all the disks are operational.
