Change Data Capture utilizes the Streams component of the RDBMS. It is often misunderstood the steps to disable and stop the Change Capture Processes within Oracle11g. This note will help the reader understand the SQL necessary to properly disable and drop Change Data Capture Distributed Hotlog

NOTE The database links must exist when creating, altering or dropping Distributed HotLog change sources, change sets and change tables.

NOTE If a subscriber wishes to drop a subscription only using DBMS_CDC_SUBSCRIBE.DROP_SUBSCRIPTION in order to end a subscription, it is not necessary to disable CHANGE_SET.
