"SET AUTOTRACE ON" Not Showing Executing Plan. Error: cannot fetch plan for statement_id 'PLUS5443586'

Symptoms

When executing "alter session set current_schema" and then "set autotrace on" there is an error for the execution plan.

Example


SQL> set autotrace on

SQL> alter session set current_schema=USER1;

Session altered.

Elapsed: 00:00:00.01
SQL> select sysdate from dual;

SYSDATE
---------
04-MAY-11

Elapsed: 00:00:00.10

Execution Plan
----------------------------------------------------------
Error: cannot fetch plan for statement_id 'PLUS5233060'



Changes

Database was upgraded from 9i to 11g.  It was working fine in 9i.
