UTL_FILE.FCOPY Creates Empty File in 10.2.0.5.0 and 12.1.0.2.0 DB version

Symptoms

UTL_FILE.FCOPY produces empty or zero-byte file in 10.2.0.5.0 and 12.1.0.2.0 on HPUX-Itanium platform.

SQL> BEGIN
utl_file.fcopy('TEST_DIR', 'test.txt', 'TEST_DIR', 'dump.txt');
END;
/

PL/SQL procedure successfully completed.


Displaying the file size shows the main file (test.txt) is of size 12 and the new file (dump.txt) is 0 bytes in size.

SQL> !ls -lart
total 128
drwxrwxrwx 1056 root rootgrp 57344 Apr 29 15:23 ..
-rw-r--r-- 1 irefresh refresh 12 Apr 29 16:16 test.txt
drwxrwxrwx 2 embde embde 4096 Apr 29 16:16 .
-rw-r--r-- 1 irefresh refresh 0 Apr 29 16:16 dump.txt

Changes

Database is upgraded/patched to 10.2.0.5.0/12.1.0.2.0
