Incorrect Number of CPU Cores Shown in V$LICENSE for AIX P7 SMT4 Server (Doc ID 1328287.1)

Last updated on FEBRUARY 23, 2019

Applies to:

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version to [Release 11.1 to 11.2]
Oracle Database Cloud Schema Service - Version N/A and later
Oracle Database Exadata Cloud Machine - Version N/A and later
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure - Database Service - Version N/A and later
Oracle Database Exadata Express Cloud Service - Version N/A and later
IBM AIX on POWER Systems (64-bit)

On IBM AIX using Power7 processors and when SMT4 option is enabled, Oracle does not calculate correctly the value for CPU_CORE_COUNT_CURRENT field in V$LICENSE view.
For example:

Machine uses 3 PowerPC_POWER7 processors, but when selecting from V$LICENSE will show CPU_CORE_COUNT_CURRENT set at 6 instead of 12.

SMT4 option is enabled for new POWER7 processors
