Symptoms

Using 11g Database Gateway for ODBC (DG4ODBC) with the Progress DataDirect Connect64 Driver 6.1  on Unix or Linux to an AS400 an insert from a PL/SQL statement that uses about 85 or more variables gives one of the following errors -

ERROR at line 1:
ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
[DataDirect][ODBC DB2 Wire Protocol driver][UDB DB2 for iSeries and AS/400]SYSTEM ERROR CAUSED FAILED EXECUTION; SUBSEQUENT SQL MAY BE SUCCESSFUL. MCH1202 3956 {HY000,NativeErr = -901}
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from DG4ODBC
ORA-06512: at line 324

or

ORA-28500: connection from ORACLE to a non-Oracle system returned this message:
[Generic Connectivity Using ODBC][DataDirect][ODBC DB2 Wire Protocol driver]Descriptor received does not match associated data. (SQL State: S1000; SQL Code: 1246)
ORA-02063: preceding 2 lines from DG4ODBC

If the insert values are hard coded instead of being variables then the insert works okay.

The problem does not happen using the DataDirect v6.00 driver or the IBM AS400 driver v7.0.
