Symptoms

The recovery Catalog is generating high redo logs in 11.2.0.2 due to many operation on RSR table.

11gr2 rman catalog produces very high redo, and lots of archive logs. although The rman catalog database has 2 small rman catalog owner schemas, using logminer to see exactly what is generating the redo, it all appears to be 3 sql statements:

INSERT into RSR
UPDATE RSR
DELETE from RSR

Looking at Resyncing trace and found an old job marked as running:

We see from rman.trc

DBGRESYNC: channel default: Calling rsr cursor from: 130541 to: 142901 [16:09:38.554] (resync)

And Resync has to get 12360 rows from V$RMAN_STATUS, time taken for each call is not significant (of the order of 20-30 milli seconds)

DBGRESYNC: channel default: row 130541 belongs to job still running: RUNNING [16:09:38.702] (resync) <<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
DBGRESYNC: channel default: Calling checkRmanStatus for 130541 with status RUNNING [16:09:38.702] (resync)
