How to Reclaim Unused Space or Decrease Size of InnoDB Data File? ibdata1; .ibd (Doc ID 1341548.1)

Goal

Sometimes the size of InnoDB data files - the system tablespace file (ibdata) or table space files (*.ibd) - are bigger than necessary. You may delete many rows from a table and notice the file size does not decrease. The goal is to reclaim that disk space.
