CONTAINS query with SYN operator fails with DRG-11702 (Doc ID 1345529.1)

Symptoms

Since upgrading to 11.2, a CONTAINS query with SYN operator that used to work in 10.2 now fails with errors:

SQL> select version from v$instance;

VERSION
-----------------
11.2.0.2.0

SQL> SELECT doc_id FROM docs
   2 WHERE CONTAINS(description,'SYN({MEMPHIS (OPEN) - GOLF},mythesaurus)')> 0;
SELECT doc_id FROM docs
*
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-29902: error in executing ODCIIndexStart() routine
ORA-20000: Oracle Text error:
DRG-11702: illegal text after disambiguated homograph

Changes

Database was upgraded to 11.2.
