Symptoms

A query against dba_objects shows that the data type SYS.XMLTYPE is INVALID.

SQL> set pages 999
SQL> col object_name format a20
SQL> col owner format a10
SQL> SELECT OWNER, OBJECT_NAME, OBJECT_TYPE
  2  FROM DBA_OBJECTS
  3  WHERE STATUS = 'INVALID'
  4  ORDER BY OWNER, OBJECT_NAME, OBJECT_TYPE;

OWNER      OBJECT_NAME          OBJECT_TYPE
---------- -------------------- ------------
...
SYS        XMLTYPE              TYPE BODY
...
