ORA-604, ORA-12899 while Dropping Partition Table with XMLTYPE Column and Global Index, after upgrade from 10.2.0 to (Doc ID 1359345.1)

Unable to drop partition table with XMLType column, a associated XML Schema and having a global index with "update global indexes" clause:

drop partition .... update global indexes;
ORA-00604: error occured at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-12899: value too large for column "USERNAME"."TABLENAME"."SYS_NC00010$" (actual: 32766, maximum 3748).

Without the "update global indexes" clause, the same drop command succeeds without any errors.
