Abnormal High Space Usage in Sysaux Tablespace - Unable to Purge (Doc ID 1360000.1)

High Space usage is shown in the SYSAUX tablespace. Manually purging of snapshots report ORA-30036 or ORA-1555 or high UNDO space usage causing database hang.

SQL> exec dbms_stats.purge_stats(sysdate-15);
BEGIN dbms_stats.purge_stats(sysdate-15); END;
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-30036: unable to extend segment by 8 in undo tablespace 'UNDOTBS01'


SQL> exec dbms_stats.purge_stats(sysdate-4) ;
BEGIN dbms_stats.purge_stats(sysdate-4) ; END;
ERROR at line 1:
ORA-1555: snapshot too old: rollback segment number 8 with name "_SYSSMU8_1213275869$" too small
