DataPump Import (IMPDP) Reports the Error LPX-210 when XMLTYPE is Involved (Doc ID 1368572.1)

Symptoms

When using DataPump to import a table with a column of type XMLTYPE from database 11.2 with character set WE8ISO8859P1 into a database 11.2 with character set AL32UTF8 and the parameter REMAP_SCHEMA is used, then the following errors occur:

Processing object type TABLE_EXPORT/TABLE/TABLE_DATA
ORA-31693: Table data object "<TABLE>" failed to load/unload and is being skipped due to error:
ORA-29913: error in executing ODCIEXTTABLEFETCH callout
ORA-31011: XML parsing failed
ORA-19202: Error occurred in XML processing
LPX-00210: expected '<' instead of '?'
Error at line 1


The error LPX-210 error text sometimes differs in respect of the 'instead of' character, e.g.:

LPX-00210: expected '<' instead of '„¢'
LPX-00210: expected '<' instead of 'A'


If the target database has the character set WE8ISO8859P1, then there is no error reported.

The table description shows, there is at least one XMLTYPE column involved:
