"There is a Problem with Your Enviroment" or Login Page is Blank After New Install or Upgrade of APEX (Doc ID 1369372.1)

Oracle Database - Enterprise Edition - Version and later
Information in this document applies to any platform.


After completing a successful install or upgrade of APEX 4.x, when attempting to bring up either the APEX or APEX Admin pages, the login page is not presented / is blank. An error similar to the following may be presented:

Error: 'apex' is undefined
URL: http://localhost:8080/apex/f?p=4550:1:11111111111111:...

In 5.0 and above, you may see the following error message:

"There is a problem with your environment because the Application Express files have not been loaded. Please verify that you have copied the images directory to your application server as instructed in the Installation Guide. In addition, please verify that your image prefix path is correct. Your current path is /i/ (it should contain both starting and ending forward slashes, such as the default /i/). Use the SQL script reset_image_prefix.sql if you need to change it."
