Symptoms

When using Oracle Advanced Compression to compress table data with the 'FOR OLTP' clause, update statements on that table perform multiple times slower and require far more storage allocation. This tends to be more pronounced on multi-row updates but also affects single-row updates.

Changes

This problem occurs after implementation of compression for a table using the 'FOR OLTP' clause when updating previously compressed blocks.
